Adopt, Don't Shop.

It was my first day of volunteering at my local animal shelter. I opened the door and stepped into a sea of cats. Sleeping on shelves, scurrying after toys, strolling up to say hi to the new human. As a self proclaimed "cat-lady", my first thought was surprisingly, "Wow, that is a lot of cats."

A lot of cats in need of a good home! As a volunteer, my only job is to give attention to and play with the cats in the shelter. Some have been there a few days, others have been residents for a few years. It doesn't take long to get to know them. Cats have very distinct personalities, and I usually gravitate toward the quiet ones. We get each other.

Having adopted my own cat from a rescue organization, I love to support shelters and rescues who work tirelessly to provide for cats who are in need of a home. It only makes sense that I would do a fabulous photo session with some adoptable kittens to promote my favorite cause.

WARNING: The following images may be too cute to handle. If you already have 3 or more cats, avert your eyes! Send the link to a friend who's looking to adopt ;-)

Huge thanks to the Humane Society of Dallas County for letting me borrow these adorable kitten models, and to my dear friend Amanda for putting up with razor sharp kitten claws in order to get the shot. You da best.
